Hi there,

Welcome to the first issue of “Where in the World is Cindi.” I will still be publishing my “Travel Tips” on my blog. I found most people were interested in where I have been traveling and my upcoming travel plans so I decided to make my newsletter all about my personal travel experiences and those of my clients (if you are my client I would love to share your travel story with my subscribers, email me if interested).

It was hard for me to get a weekly newsletter out on a consistent basis, mostly because of my travels so I have decided to aim for bi-monthly newsletters. I may send you other emails if something really exciting or urgent happens that I feel you should know.

So here we go…

Where I Have Been:

Travel Conferences

The last few months have been busy! I attended two Travel Conferences in Las Vegas. The first one was the Travel Agent Forum in March. It was an interesting conference and I learned a lot about running my business more efficiently.

In May I attended the Romance Travel University. As the name suggests it was a conference all about Destination Weddings, Honeymoons, and other types of romance travel. Along with learning a ton about the Romance Travel Industry and the destinations I sell, I was also able to tour some of the wedding locations in Las Vegas with the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority. My favorite wedding location venues were the Mob Museum and the Graceland Chapel!

Lake Las Vegas

I also was able to see a whole other side of Southern Nevada when we visited some of the amazing resorts located in Henderson. Green Valley Ranch Resort & Casino is an amazing oasis from the crazy party scene of Las Vegas. Beautiful grounds and an amazing location for a wedding.

We toured Lake Las Vegas one evening as well. I didn’t even know Lake Las Vegas existed before this trip and I was pleasantly surprised by what I experienced. There are two resorts there, The Westin Lake Las Vegas and Hilton Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa. Both of them were really nice but I preferred the Westin overall.

Northern Nevada

After my time in Las Vegas for the Romance Travel University I headed to Reno for a short trip to tour the wedding sites of Northern Nevada. I hadn’t traveled in Nevada much except for a couple stops in Las Vegas and our drive when we moved from Oregon. Ask me about the Clown Motel in Tonopah sometime.

I was pleasantly surprised by the beauty of Northern Nevada. I especially fell in love with the little town of Genoa, Nevada. I would highly recommend anyone who hasn’t been there to check it out. We also visited Virginia City, Reno, Carson City, Carson Valley, and both North and South Lake Tahoe. The most surprising part of the trip was when we got stuck in Tahoe in a blizzard in May! It was a fun adventure.

Puerto Peñasco

The month of June has been equally exciting. I was able to take a short vacation with my family to Puerto Peñasco, Mexico also known as Rocky Point. Rocky Point is only about four hours from my home in Gilbert, AZ so we drive down there when we need to have some beach time. This was the first time we had taken the kids so it was really fun to experience Rocky Point with them.

Rocky Point is a small Mexican City on the coast of the Sea of Cortez for the non Arizona subscribers. It is the secret oasis for us desert dwellers and you see more AZ license plates on the drive down than you do Mexico license plates. We stayed at the Sonoran Sea Resort on Sandy Beach and it was such a relaxing and enjoyable experience. I would definitely stay there again. We ate at the Kaffe Haus restaurant and the food was amazing. I have heard they have the best Apple Strudel in America but I had an omelet so I cannot confirm or deny this claim. Definitely looking forward to our next visit to Rocky Point!!!

Where I am Going:

I am currently on my way to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. I will be attending the Romance Travel Forum there from June 16th to June 28th. I was lucky enough to be ranked within the top 175 North American Romance Travel Sellers, selected for this exclusive forum. I will have a lot more to tell you about this trip in my next newsletter. You can follow along with my journey on Facebook.

Well that is all for now. I hope you enjoyed following me on my adventures.

Cindi Sanden
