Martha Stewart Weddings covers an incredible wedding in Mexico that we all wish we had been invited to. The night before the wedding, the couple and their 175 guests held a Mexican wedding tradition: callejoneada. The couple and guests took to the streets accompanied by a mariachi band and a donkey pulling a cart full of tequila for a parade/dance party/sing-along pre-celebration event. We’re loving the idea of everyone bonding the night before the the wedding at this pre-party to the big event. And the wedding itself was stunning.
What Awaken Travels is loving this April
Travel-worthy sandals
We’re always on the hunt for the best travel sandal. You know, that pair that doesn’t look orthopedic but also isn’t as casual as a beach flip-flop. We’re loving these Chaco Rowan Sandals. Chacos are notorious for those clunky, outdoors-sport sandals and while those definitely have a function, time, and place, walking around the cobbled streets of Europe for some tapas and wine isn’t one of those. Which is why we’re in love with these sandals that come with the Chaco comfort and durability, but are cute enough and versatile enough to wear on any vacation.
Your new favorite travel tote bag
The Fjallraven Totepack No. 1 hits all the requirements we’re looking for in a travel tote. It’s stylish and comes in a whole slew of color options. It fully zips so you don’t need to worry about someone’s hand slipping in while riding public transportation. It can be worn over the shoulder as a tote or as backpack. It also has a great kangaroo pouch on the front which is essential for airport days when you need paperwork, passports and gum easily accessible. Fjallraven doesn’t mess around with quality so this bag is certainly worth its price tag. It’ll last for years of adventuring.
