Why We Built It This Way
This is a real itinerary we built for a family of eight who wanted one trip to do several things at once: walk the ground their family came from, learn something about whisky, see a castle or two, and not spend the whole holiday in a car. Names, dates and prices have been taken out - the shape of the trip is what is worth showing.
The spine of it is an open-jaw route: fly into Edinburgh, fly home from Dublin, and never double back. That one decision buys back the better part of two days. From there it runs Edinburgh to the Highlands, across to the Isle of Skye, down into Argyll for the clan days, over the water by ferry, then along the Causeway Coast into Dublin.
Yours would not look like this one. It would start from your surname, your pace, and how much driving you actually want to do - but this is the kind of thing we build.

Important Information
UK ETA Requirement
All US travelers will need a UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA). Apply online via the UK government website - currently £20 per person. It is valid for 2 years. We track the timing for our clients and flag it when the window opens.
Jacobite Steam Train
Tickets for the Hogwarts Express sell out within minutes when they go on sale. This is a calendar alert priority - we watch the on-sale date for our clients and book the moment it opens.
Passports
Any travelers without current passports should start applications soon. Current processing time is approximately 2 months. Passports must stay valid for the whole trip, and some airlines ask for 6+ months of validity beyond the return date - so we tell people to renew early rather than cut it fine.
Accommodation Style
We book large vacation rentals with 4+ bedrooms, communal spaces, and laundry facilities. For groups large and small - we find the perfect homey base for each region.
How a Trip Like This Comes Together
- 1We start with a conversation, not a template - what you actually want out of the trip, and what you would rather skip.
- 2We map the route first - which airports, which direction, how many bases. That is where most of the wasted days get removed.
- 3Then the heritage research - surnames, parishes, which centres and sites are genuinely worth a day and which are a photo stop.
- 4Lodging goes early, flights go later. Large homes in the Highlands book out far ahead; airfare for a trip this far out does not open until several months before departure, so it is quoted last.
